What is Kickstarter? How can I support?

The Kickstarter Campaign for When Painted With Deceit has launched on the 23rd September, 2024. The main goal of this campaign is to create a special book box. This book box is THE collectible item every Aileen and Callan fan needs. If you are the best sleuth out there and want to know more about what will happen next in the Aileen and Callan world, you need this box.

So how do you get it? Let’s begin at the basics. 

What is Kickstarter?

Kickstarter is a crowdfunding platform where creators share projects they want to bring to life, and people (like you!) can pledge money to help make those projects happen. As an author, my project focuses on books, namely the latest novel in the Aileen and Callan Murder Mystery series. 

In Kickstarter, if the creator meets their funding goal before the pre-determined end date, the project is funded, and backers receive rewards based on their level of support.

How to Back a Project

Backing a project is simple! Here’s a quick guide:

1. Find the Project: You’ll visit the Kickstarter page of the project you want to support (like my When Painted With Deceit page:

2. Choose Your Reward Tier: The When Painted With Deceit project is offering different levels of rewards based on how much you pledge. You can choose the tier that best fits your interest and budget.

3. Pledge and Support: Click the pledge button for your chosen tier, then proceed to payment (details below).

4. Receive Your Rewards: If the project reaches its funding goal, you’ll receive the reward you selected based on the estimated delivery. If the goal isn’t met, you’re not charged.

What Are Rewards and Add-Ons?

– Rewards: These are the items or experiences you get in return for your support. Each reward is tied to a specific pledge level. For example, you might receive an ebook, a special hardback, or even a signed copy, depending on how much you pledge.

– Add-Ons: Add-ons are additional items you can purchase on top of your selected reward. For example, if you pledged for a paperback but also want a subscription to Ultimate Sleuths, you could add that to your order as an “add-on.”

*Please Note: These are approximate delivery dates. At the moment, we are hoping to fulfil your rewards before these dates. If the project is funded, you will receive updates on how the fulfilment of your respective reward is being carried out as well as more accurate delivery dates. 

How Does Payment Work?

When you back a project, you’ll enter your payment information, but you won’t be charged immediately. Kickstarter only charges you once the project ends. The When Painted With Deceit Kickstarter will end on Sat, October 19 2024 5:00 PM BST and you’ll be actually charged after that.

What Are Stretch Goals?

Stretch goals are extra rewards or enhancements that get unlocked if a project surpasses its initial funding goal. For example, our initial funding goal for When Painted With Deceit is £300. Now that we have successfully surpassed this goal, I will be offering a few (surprise!) additional gifts to all backers:)
